Parents,
At this time everyone is wondering about how school will start. The re-entry plan will be sent out to parents three to four weeks before the start of school. It will be posted on the school website. On Friday, June 26, 2020 guidance was rolled out to all schools in Illinois on what re-entry plans should look like. On Monday, June 29, 2020, those guidelines were changed and made more restrictive.
It would be irresponsible of us to put a plan out at this time, only to see it change multiple times, again. This would cause anger and frustration. By putting the plan out three to four weeks ahead of time, we hope to minimize the constant changes and have the strongest, most flexible plan possible.
The district leadership team meets again this week and will bring great clarity to a constantly moving target. Our considerations will focus on the re-entry of students and staff, along with all of the safety procedures that need to be in place.
Thank you for your patience during these very difficult times. We realize that this is very frustrating to everyone. As a community, school, and staff, we have to determine what the new normal looks like. We believe that a vaccine will be developed. Until then, our work will focus on educating all students and providing for their safety and the safety of their families. Thank you for your constant support.
Most sincerely,
The Franklin District Leadership Team

The IHSA has allowed our athletes to return to some team activities that are at this point limited to physical conditioning or weight training. We need all interested athletes in grades 9-12 to check in with the following coaches by Friday June 12th.
Any student interested in football needs to email Coach Hill at shill@pretzelpride.com.
Any student interested in volleyball needs to email Coach Spencer at bspencer@franklinhigh.com.
Any students interested in cross country need to email Coach Smith at rsmith@franklinhigh.com.
Any athletes interested in boys or girls golf need to email Coach Ross at ross23@royell.org.
Other coaches for winter and spring coaches will be reaching out to their team members as well but the fall sports will be assigned groups first as recommended by the IHSA. Any questions about this program will be answered by Rick Smith.

Here is the 20-21 school calendar.

With that being said, we would still like to highlight the achievements and hard work of our 8th graders. We ask that each parent send in a picture of their student. Those pictures can be sent to Mr. Waggener at jwaggener@franklinhigh.com we will be putting together a student highlight program on our Facebook page and on the district website.

Look at this!!! We have our top three American Heart Association winners all from one family! Garrett, Eli and Aiden collected $1,953!!! This organization is very dear to them, their great grandma suffers from heart disease and they wanted to do their part to help those in need. Way to go boys!!!
As a whole, our district raised $3,005.41 - that is awesome! Thank you to everyone who supported our students and our PE program led by Ms. Rees. Unfortunately we do not have our student prizes to hand out yet, it looks like they will not be sending them to us until the fall. Once they are received we will get them out to our students. Thank you all again!!

We are so fortunate to have such an awesome group of teachers and staff that work with our students everyday! Thank you Franklin CUSD 1 for your talents and dedication!!

Thanks to Illinois Electric Cooperative for providing a remote learning hotspot for our students in the Nortonville area! This hotspot is located across the road from the Nortonville church. You can park in either parking lot and should be able to get signal. We ask that you follow all social distancing guidelines when using this system.
After you connect, you will need to accept the terms and conditions before accessing they system.
