The Senior Project at Franklin CUSD #1
The Senior Project at Franklin High School is a year-long experience for all seniors. Students select a topic about which they have a passion. They research the topic and write a paper. They then decide on some type of product or experience that is linked to the paper and spend a semester immersed in the topic. A portfolio is maintained to provide evidence of all the student has accomplished. In the spring all seniors present their research, their products, and what they have learned to an audience of students, parents, and teachers.
This project is the result of research conducted by two teachers after reading the federal study on the senior year of high school. The report encouraged schools to challenge their seniors to more rigorous classes and more rigorous projects.
This site will provide exciting examples of what our students are doing with this project.
