INTRODUCTION TO THE AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY

Exciting introductory courses into the agriculture industry, students are introduced to all aspects of the industry, and also spend some time in the shop. FFA is also introduced and greatly stressed.
AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE
AGR 200

Prerequisite: Introduction to the Agricultural Industry or permission
of instructor
Students learn advanced plant and soil science, and animal science. Students spend time in the shop learning gas welding as well as constructing wooden projects. Marketing is also introduced with a grain marketing project used to learn the skill of marketing. FFA is also stressed through contests and record books.
AGRIBUSINESS OPERATIONS
AGR300
Length of course: 2 semesters
Credit: 1 unit
Prerequisite: Agricultural Science or permission of instructor
This course involves the study of agriculture mechanics,small engine overhaul and electrical wiring. Forms of welding including advanced gas, MIG,ARC and the plasma cutter are also learned. FFA activities and record books are greatly stressed.
AGRIBUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Prerequisite: Agribusiness Operations or permission of instructor
In this Ag class students are taught agriculture marketing and commodities, business makeup and management practices and financing. Students also get some knowledge of agronomy and chemical and weed control. Advanced shop projects apply skills learned in earlier classes. FFA activities and record books are greatly stressed.
HORTICULTURAL SCIENCE

Length of Course: 2 Semesters
Credit: 1 unit
This course is designed to teach basic skills in horticulture. Students learn proper ways to grow and manage plants in greenhouse and nursery settings. Students will spend time designing and developing a landscape project, as well getting some hands on experience. A science credit is offered with this class.
HORTICULTURAL PRODUCTION AND FLORAL DESIGN

Length of Course: 2 Semesters
Credit: 1 unit
This course involves designing and producing landscapes in the community. Landscape design and drawings are stressed in this class. Also you will learn to produce plants to use in landscape.
SUPERVISED AGRICULTURAL EXPERIENCE
Length of Course: 2 semesters
Prerequisite: 10th- 12th grades
An experience program for students to continue FFA activities.
BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES IN APPLIED AGRICULTURE
AGR200
Length of Course: 2 semesters
Credit: 1 unit
This course involves the study of plant and animal sciences as they relate to agriculture including genetics, DNA, plant production and reproduction, and food processing and preservation. This class counts toward a Biology credit.
