College Courses

REQUIREMENTS FOR COLLEGE COURSES

A student may take up to two off-campus college courses (provided the courses begin during the normal school day) and one online class.

Possible options:

1. If a student takes an off-campus college course, the time of the class and travel time must begin and end during a specific block (for example: student enrolls in a college course during 1A and 1B or 2A and 2B plus homeroom and lunch, or
homeroom, lunch, 4A and 4B or 5A and 5B).
2. A student takes two off-campus courses-leaving after 2nd hour everyday.
3. A student taking an online class may choose to take the course in place of either one or two high school courses, but they must be on different days (one A-day and one B-day).
4. A student may take an online course with option #1 or option #2, following the requirements in option #3

To participate in the above program the following must apply:

1. The student is in grades 10, 11, or 12.
2. The course(s) is (are) approved by the principal, guidance counselor, and parent/guardian.
3. The student has proven academic ability, is in good standing and has met all of the college requirements.

A student who successfully completes college courses may receive one full unit of weighted high school credit for each course provided the following criteria are met:

1. Courses are taken between the first and last day of the school year.
2. Courses begin during the school day.
3. The student must receive a grade of C- or higher to receive honor points.

The following rules apply to all college courses:

1. The grade must be figured into the student's G.P.A.
2. College credit may not be used to attain early graduation.
3. College courses may not replace high school courses required for graduation.

The following rule applies to all online college courses:

Students are responsible for the cost of tuition, fees, and books, however if a student successfully passes an online class with a "C" or better, then the school will reimburse them for the tuition part of their expenses.
