T he Nicholas Effect: A boy’s gift to the world is a very touching and sentimental story. I strongly recommend this book because it is a true story that actually happened to this young six-year-old boy on a family vacation to Italy. Nicholas Green was actually killed in a car highjacking on the highway near Palermo, Sicily, which is also in Italy. Nicholas was an organ donor to several people in Italy and is still greatly appreciated.
What I like about the Nicholas Effect is that his parents had the courage to say their final goodbyes to their little boy in a foreign country where the were not familiar to.
The Nicholas Effect: A boy’s gift to the world is basically about a boy who went on a family vacation with his family to Italy. As they were driving to their next destination, Palermo, Sicily, Nicholas’ family’s rented car was high jacked. Nicholas was killed during the highjacking when a bullet hit Nicholas in the head. They drove to a local hospital where the finally announced that Nicholas had passed Nicholas’ parents asked a doctor is they should donate his organs. So they did and Nicholas donated both of his corneas, both of his kidneys, his heart, his islet cells, his liver, and his pancreas. His organs were greatly appreciated.
My favorite character in the story is Nicholas because he was a very brave person in a six-year-old boy. He was very courageous.
The setting of the story is in Italy.
My favorite part of the book is when they meet all of the people that Nicholas’ organs were donated to. They were very thankful to his parents and little sister, Eleanor. Eleanor became good friends with some of the people that Nicholas donated his organs to.
From reading this book I learned that you don’t appreciate the full greatness of your family until one of them or all of them are gone.
I highly recommend the book The Nicholas Effect: A boy’s gift to the world it is a truly touching story about a young boy who had the courage to let go of his life and his family and his memory remains strong in them and in Italy. Nicholas’ body was later buried in Italy. Nicholas’ family was flown out of Italy after a special remembrance ceremony. The resume life as normal and Maggie has had a set of twins since the family’s trip to Palermo, Italy. Yet, Nicholas Green will always remain strong in their minds and their prayers.
