• I recommend this book because it is a sad book about horses and an adventurous girl named Sam. I like it because it tells a wonderful story about Sam and her family. It’s been two years since Sam’s horse threw her in near-fatal accident. She moved to San Francisco with her aunt. When she gets home her dad gives her a horse, they go on a cattle drive and she sees her horse in the open. After the cattle drive she starts to see him in the river by their house.My favorite character is Sam because she is adventurous like me so she is kind of like me.The setting of the book is in Nevada at a ranch called River Bend Ranch. My favorite part is when Sam rescues her calf named Buddy. He was stuck in quick sand when they were on the cattle drive. I learned how a girl’s bond with a horse can never be broken even when a serious accident occurs between them.
