This was a really good book. It was about a family in the early 20 th century. The two kids want a dog really badly. Then they hear that some dogs are for sale. They work hard and eventually buy him. Throughout the book there is someone who keeps spying on them. He ends up stealing the dog. The kids get upset and try to find him. At the end they figure out who stole him and that guy gets in a lot of trouble. My favorite part of the book is when they find the dog. It is happy but sad at the same time because the dog was abused. My favorite character is the little girl because she is funny.
