I would recommend the book because it is easy reading. The setting is in the early 1900s about a black family that is trying to make money to pay off their bills. Mama lost her teaching job because Mr. Granger wants some of his land back so the family can’t pay bills. My favorite part of the book is when everybody stops the fighting and helps to stop the fire. My favorite character is T.J. because he causes trouble and the way he says stuff it makes me laugh.
